Dr. Lauren Stirling specializes in the management of a variety of pre- and post-operative surgical procedures, including cataract surgery and refractive procedures. Her clinical experience also encompasses the diagnosis and treatment of eye diseases, including glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, and age-related macular degeneration. | |
Dr. Stirling graduated Summa Cum Laude and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology from Southeastern Louisiana University. She then earned her Doctorate of Optometry Degree at the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Optometry, graduating with academic honors and receiving the Clinical Excellence Award. Upon graduation, Dr. Stirling completed a Primary Care residency with an emphasis in Ocular Disease at the Tuscaloosa Veterans Affairs Medical Center where she trained in hospital-based optometry and co-management of complex eye diseases. She served as clinical and center director for an ophthalmology center surgical referral center in Florence and as an associate doctor at Campbell Vision Center in Russellville prior to opening Valley Eye Care.
She is a member of the Alabama Optometric Association, the American Optometric Association, is a fellow of the American Academy of Optometry, and is a diplomate of the American Board of Optometry. She also currently serves as a board member of the Alabama Optometric Association, the UAB School of Optometry Alumni Board, and the Alabama Board of Optometric Scholarships. Dr. Stirling was the recipient of the 2020 ALOA Young Optometrist of the Year and the 2021
Southeastern Conference of Optometrists Young Optometrist of the Year.
Although she now embraces Alabama as her home, as a Louisiana native, Dr. Stirling is a LSU and Saints football fan and enjoys spending time with family and friends. She resides in Florence with her husband, Joseph, daughters, Addison, Avery, & Abigail, and dog, Tucker.
